JD - Accounts ManagerThe Accounts Manager for the Publication Department will oversee financial operations specific to the publication unit, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The role involves managing day-to-day accounting tasks, financial analysis, and contributing to the financial health of the department while ensuring the publication’s expenses, revenues, and budgets are aligned with organizational goals.Key Responsibilities:Financial Management:Oversee the financial operations of the publication department, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.Prepare financial reports and statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.Monitor departmental budgets and provide variance analysis on actual vs. forecast performance.Budgeting and Forecasting:Assist in preparing annual budgets for the publication department.Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to forecast sales, subscription revenues, and production costs.Monitor monthly performance against budgets and provide recommendations to department heads.Compliance and Audit:Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.Liaise with auditors for internal and external audits, providing required documentation and explanations.Vendor and Expense Management:Manage relationships with suppliers and service providers, ensuring invoices are processed and paid on time.Ensure cost control measures are in place to minimize unnecessary expenses and optimize operational efficiency.Reporting and Analysis:Generate periodic financial reports for senior management, providing insights into financial performance, cash flow, and cost optimization.Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the publication unit.Revenue Management:Oversee subscription, advertisement, and publication revenue streams.Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to maximize profitability through accurate revenue tracking.Team Collaboration:Work closely with editorial, marketing, and production teams to support financial planning, product launches, and budget management.Provide financial guidance and support to department staff as needed.System and Process Improvement:Identify opportunities to enhance accounting systems, processes, and reporting efficiency.Implement improvements to ensure accurate financial data and streamlined workflows.Qualifications and Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or professional qualifications such as CA/CPA preferred).Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a publishing or media environment.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems).Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in the publication or media industry.Knowledge of tax and regulatory requirements specific to the publishing industry.
