Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a technically proficient professional with a strong background in machine tools and processes used in the spectacle lens and intraocular lens (IOL) manufacturing industry. This role is crucial for providing hands-on technical support, optimizing machining processes, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Technical Expertise: Deliver expert-level support in machining and finishing processes specific to spectacle and IOL manufacturing. Process Optimization: Collaborate with customers to enhance tool performance, surface finish, and production efficiency in ophthalmic lens manufacturing. Customer Support: Provide both on-site and remote troubleshooting and technical assistance related to cutting tools and machine tool performance. Machine Tool Application: Utilize knowledge of precision machine tools for cutting, grinding, polishing, and coating applications in lens manufacturing. Product Customization: Work closely with R&D and customers to design and develop customized cutting tools for ophthalmic lens machining. Training & Demonstrations: Conduct training sessions and live demonstrations for both customers and internal teams on best practices in lens machining. Industry Monitoring: Stay informed about the latest trends and technological advancements in optical manufacturing, CNC lens processing, and automation. Qualifications: Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 38 years of experience in precision machining, ophthalmic lens manufacturing, or relevant machine tool applications. Technical Competencies: Proficiency in machine tools used for spectacle and IOL production, including grinding, lathing, and polishing. Knowledge of CNC machining, diamond turning, and ultra-precision grinding. Experience with optical-grade cutting tools. Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to support process improvements and effective tool selection. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. Mobility: Willingness to travel frequently for on-site customer support, product trials, and training programs. Preferred Requirements: Exposure to freeform lens manufacturing and advanced optical coatings . Familiarity with machines from Satisloh, OptoTech, Schneider, or Coburn . Hands-on experience with diamond turning and ultra-precision tooling in optical component manufacturing.
