Job Description

The Associate Capital Formation role will be a part of this GCC. There are two open roles (both within the Capital Formation department) one for the Relationship Management unit and one for the Project Management unit (refer below for further details). Meraks Capital Formation department The department is responsible for fundraising, investor relations, and capital deployment strategies. Additionally, the department works on structuring new funds, developing investment strategies, and aligning capital-raising efforts with market trends and regulatory requirements. Its ultimate goal is to ensure the firm has the necessary financial resources to execute its investment strategies effectively. Role: Associate Relationship Management (RM) Part of the Capital Formation department, the RM unit is responsible for nurturing existing LP relationships through timely communications, accurate reporting, and tailored interactions. The units primary objective is LP retention and facilitating cross-selling opportunities without compromising service quality. Overview of responsibilities: Maintain ongoing, high-quality communication with existing LPs. Prepare and distribute regular reports, updates, and meeting materials. Manage ad hoc LP inquiries and resolve issues promptly. Organize and facilitate quarterly, annual, and LPAC meetings. Support cross-selling of additional products by understanding LP needs. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless client service. Role: Associate – Project Management (PM) Part of the Capital Formation department, the PM unit supports both Business Development (a unit that sources and converts new, high-quality LPs) and RM, handling the creation of essential investor materials such as pitch decks, PPMs, and periodic updates. Focused on internal deliverables, the PM team ensures high-quality, timely production that underpins the firm’s broader investor relations efforts. Overview of responsibilities: Develop and manage the production of investor materials (pitch decks, PPMs, updates, etc.). Coordinate deliverables across BD and RM teams to ensure timely completion. Implement quality control processes for all investor communication outputs. Monitor project timelines and adjust workflows as necessary. Maintain internal documentation and track performance metrics related to deliverables.Key Requirements: 1. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred. 7+ years of experience in business development, investor relations, capital formation, or fundraising within an alternative investment firm, private equity, venture capital, hedge fund, private credit, or real asset management firm. Experience structuring blind pool funds, co-investments, and separately managed accounts (SMAs). Experience producing investor reports, whitepapers, and market insights to reinforce the firm's thought leadership. Familiarity with deal structuring, SPVs, secondary transactions, and fund recapitalizations. Experience coordinating cross-functional teams, including investment, legal, finance, and operations, to streamline fundraising efforts.2. Technical Skills & Competencies: Deep understanding of institutional investor expectations, alternative investment structures, and fundraising cycles. Understanding of fund terms, fee structures, and LP negotiations, ensuring alignment between investor interests and fund objectives. Strong knowledge of investment memoranda (PPMs), fund marketing materials, and regulatory considerations (AIFMD, SEC, CMA, etc.). An understanding of financial modeling, valuation methodologies, and portfolio performance metrics. Ability to benchmark fund performance against market competitors and analyze macroeconomic trends impacting fundraising efforts. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate investment strategies to sophisticated investors. Knowledge of CRM systems (HubSpot, Salesforce) and investor reporting tools to track interactions and pipeline progress. Ability to manage multiple fundraising projects simultaneously, ensuring timely execution of investor follow-ups, meetings, and documentation. Key Requirements: 1.
