Role & responsibilities Job Title: Automation Engineer Aroma Chemicals Department: Engineering / Projects / Operations Location: Daund Reporting To: Head – Engineering / Plant Head Experience Required: 3–6 years in industrial automation, preferably in chemicals, aroma, or process industries Job Purpose: To design, maintain, and optimize automation systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS) for efficient, safe, and consistent operations in the aroma chemicals manufacturing plant. Key Responsibilities: Automation System Management: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems across plant operations. Support control strategies for reactors, distillation columns, and blending systems. Project Execution: Lead or assist in automation projects – from design, programming, to commissioning. Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for installation and upgrades of automation equipment. Process Optimization: Analyze automation data to improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance process consistency. Develop dashboards and reports for key process parameters and alarms. Instrumentation & Control: Collaborate with the instrumentation team for sensor, transmitter, and actuator calibration. Ensure proper integration between field instruments and control systems. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain all automation-related documentation, SOPs, and user manuals. Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations (e.g., ATEX, IEC). Training & Support: Train production and maintenance staff on automation systems. Provide support during plant trials, scale-ups, and validations. Key Requirements: Education: B.E./B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, or Automation Engineering Experience: 3–6 years in automation roles in chemical, pharmaceutical, or aroma chemical industries Skills: Hands-on experience with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.) Proficiency in SCADA/HMI systems (Wonderware, WinCC, iFix, etc.) Knowledge of DCS architecture (ABB, Honeywell, Emerson preferred) Understanding of PID loops, batch control systems, and safety interlocks Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and explosion-proof systems Preferred Industry Background: Aroma chemicals, specialty chemicals, bulk chemicals, petrochemicals, or pharmaceuticals
