Job Title: Data Engineer Department: Data & Analytics Reports to: Head of Analytics Location: Chennai Job Type: Full-time, In-Office (IIT MRP) Experience: min 3 years relevant experience Job Summary: Galaxy Health Insurance, a promising health insurance provider, is seeking a talented PostgreSQL Developer to join our dynamic Analytics team. As a SQL Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality data marts within our PostgreSQL environment. You will work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and data scientists to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery for critical business decisions. Key Responsibilities: Data Modeling and Design: Design and develop efficient data marts using PostgreSQL on Amazon RDS & Redshift, adhering to best practices in data warehousing and dimensional modeling. Translate business requirements into effective data models and structures. Create and maintain metadata documentation for data marts. Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL): Develop and maintain efficient ETL processes using PostgreSQL, PL/SQL, or other relevant tools. Extract data from various sources (databases, flat files, APIs) and transform it into a suitable format for analysis. Load data into data marts efficiently and reliably. Data Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks and validation rules to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Monitor data quality and identify and resolve data issues. Performance Tuning: Optimize data mart performance through indexing, partitioning, and other techniques. Monitor data mart performance and identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with business analysts, data engineers, and other stakeholders. Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL and SQL Knowledge of AWS Glue and related ETL tools in AWS Familiarity with Amazon RDS & Redshift Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Experience with data warehousing concepts and methodologies (e.g., Kimball, Inmon) Experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools Experience with data modeling and database design Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of the health insurance domain (preferred) Note: This position requires working full-time from our Chennai office with alternate Saturday half day working (2 nd , 4 th & 5 th ).
