Business Development Representative Job Description Overview The Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a critical role in driving revenue and growth for the organization. As a front-line member of the sales team, the BDR is responsible for identifying new business opportunities by prospecting potential clients, establishing connections, and setting up meetings for account executives. The role involves a combination of market research, lead generation, and relationship-building with prospective customers. BDRs are essential in creating a strong sales pipeline and ensuring the success of future sales activities. By effectively conveying the company s value proposition and nurturing leads, the BDR significantly contributes to achieving the organizations sales targets and fostering long-term customer relationships. This position requires not only a strategic mindset but also excellent interpersonal skills to navigate the complexities of relationship-building in a competitive business landscape. Key Responsibilities Identify and research potential customers and their needs. Initiate outreach through calls, emails, and social media. Qualify leads based on company criteria and prospect needs. Schedule meetings for account executives with qualified leads. Maintain and update the customer relationship management (CRM) system. Assist in creating marketing materials to support lead generation efforts. Collaborate with marketing on campaigns to attract new leads. Participate in team meetings to review sales strategies and goals. Build strong relationships with prospects through casual and formal communication. Follow up on leads generated from trade shows, webinars, and other marketing initiatives. Analyze market trends to identify potentials for growth. Present company offerings and solutions to functional groups. Document interactions and maintain accurate records in the CRM. Provide timely feedback on prospect responses and market trends. Achieve and exceed weekly and monthly outreach and lead generation goals. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or related field. 1-3 years of experience in sales or business development roles. Strong understanding of sales principles and customer relationship management. Proficient in using CRM software, such as Salesforce or HubSpot. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Experience with social media platforms and lead generation tools. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. Ability to build rapport and establish trust with potential clients. Creative problem solver with a positive attitude. Willingness to learn about industry trends and competitor offerings. A valid driver s license and willingness to travel when needed. Knowledge of industry-related software and tools is a plus.
