Role Overview: We are looking for a highly driven and strategic professional to lead the Staples category. This role involves full ownership of the category’s growth, profitability, and supply chain efficiency. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of the staples market, strong vendor management skills. Key Responsibilities: Develop the procurement strategy and annual operating plan for the category, aligned with overall business goals. Manage end-to-end sourcing operations including demand forecasting, purchase planning, cost optimization, and inventory coordination — covering both open market and private label products. Establish and nurture a strong supplier ecosystem, including farmers, millers, processors, and traders. Track market trends, pricing dynamics, and supply-side risks to design appropriate hedging or forward contracting strategies. Create and execute robust risk mitigation plans tailored to the category’s specific needs. Ensure all procurement processes adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements. Work closely with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales to drive operational excellence.
