Job Description

Job Summary: The Category Head / Buying Head will be responsible for leading the end-to-end category strategy, assortment planning, vendor management, and performance of the assigned category. The role requires a deep understanding of customer behavior, market trends, and strong negotiation and leadership skills to drive business growth and profitability. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement category strategies aligned with company goals and consumer trends. Lead a team of buyers and category managers to curate a competitive and profitable product assortment. Analyze market and consumer trends to identify new opportunities and gaps in the category. Drive pricing, promotion, and assortment strategies to maximize sales and margin. Negotiate with vendors and suppliers for the best terms (price, delivery, payment). Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure product availability and service levels. Track and manage category performance metrics including revenue, gross margin, inventory turns, and sell-through rates. Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, operations, and e-commerce teams to ensure seamless execution of category plans. Optimize inventory levels and reduce aging stock through efficient planning and exit strategies. Conduct regular competitor benchmarking and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends. Key Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or related field. MBA preferred. 1518 years of experience in category management, buying, or merchandising, preferably in fashion/e-commerce/Retail. Proven track record of P&L ownership and delivering category growth. Strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills. Excellent understanding of retail/e-commerce dynamics and customer preferences. Proficiency in tools like Excel, ERP systems, and BI tools. Preferred Qualities: Strategic mindset with hands-on execution ability. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. High adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Data-driven decision maker.
