About the Role: Are you passionate about city journalism and have a keen eye for impactful storytelling? Were looking for an experienced City Desk Editor to lead our Jaipur city coverage. In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping urban narratives—from civic concerns to cultural highlights—bringing sharp editorial judgment and refined language skills to the newsroom. Key Responsibilities City News Writing & Editing Write, rewrite, and edit news stories focused on Jaipur’s civic issues, law & order, education, governance, infrastructure, politics, and social dynamics. Ensure high standards of accuracy, clarity, objectivity, and relevance in polished Hindi. Content Enhancement & Story Development Add depth and value to raw reports by incorporating background, quotes, data, and context. Craft compelling headlines and intros tailored for the city reader, highlighting real on-ground situations. Field Coordination & Reporter Management Collaborate daily with city reporters, photographers, and beat correspondents for comprehensive news planning and execution. Guide and mentor reporters to improve story depth, structure, and journalistic integrity. Desk & Page Management Finalize city pages in collaboration with the layout/design team. Suggest lead stories, sidebars, special boxes, and infographics that enhance visual and editorial presentation. Real-Time News Handling Monitor and update breaking developments, especially during festivals, emergencies, protests, and political events in Jaipur. Ensure timely and accurate filing of updates under tight deadlines. Language & Quality Control Maintain consistency in editorial tone, grammatical precision, and news neutrality. Uphold the highest standards of journalistic ethics and factual verification. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or equivalent. 2–4 years of editorial experience in a city newsroom, preferably in Hindi print or digital media. Strong grasp of Jaipur’s social, political, administrative, and cultural landscape. Expertise in Hindi news writing, editing, and urban news judgment. Proficiency with content management systems (CMS) and newsroom workflows. Preferred Skills Excellent command of Hindi language and style suited to city news. Ability to handle deadline pressure and manage late evening shifts if required. Collaborative attitude, strong sense of editorial responsibility, and a “city-first” journalistic instinct.
