About the Role: The Platform Engineer will design, deploy and maintain AWS-based infrastructure solutions, manage and maintain Red Hat Linux systems, and implement automation scripts using tools such as Ansible. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cloud services are integrated into the overall IT landscape. The Platform Engineer will also ensure security compliance, troubleshoot issues, stay current with AWS and Red Hat updates, and maintain documentation. Additionally, they will lead cloud-related projects and contribute to the overall cloud and Red Hat strategy. Department: Enterprise Applications Collaboration Principal Accountabilities Cloud Infrastructure Design and Deployment: Spearhead the design and implementation of AWS-based infrastructure solutions, ensuring they align with business requirements and industry best practices. Collaborate closely with architects and stakeholders to create scalable, secure, and highly available cloud architectures that can adapt to changing business needs. Evaluate and recommend appropriate AWS services and tools to optimize performance, cost, and security. Design and implement robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal downtime and data loss. Red Hat Systems Administration: Manage and maintain Red Hat Linux systems, including installation, configuration, patching, and performance tuning. Administer user accounts, permissions, and system resources. Implement and optimize Red Hat-based solutions to seamlessly integrate with AWS services, leveraging the strengths of both platforms. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Red Hat systems, ensuring their stability and availability. Automation and Configuration Management: Develop and implement automation scripts using tools like Ansible for configuration management, ensuring consistent and efficient deployment of resources across the environment. Champion the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IAC) principles to enhance agility, repeatability, and scalability of infrastructure deployments. Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment of infrastructure changes. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to understand application requirements and provide effective cloud solutions that meet their needs. Participate in cross-functional collaboration to integrate cloud services into the overall IT landscape, ensuring seamless interoperability and data flow. Provide technical guidance and support to other teams on cloud-related matters. Security Compliance: Ensure cloud infrastructure and Red Hat systems adhere to security best practices and comply with relevant industry regulations and company policies. Implement and monitor security measures, such as access controls, encryption, and vulnerability scanning, to safeguard cloud-based resources and data. Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential threats. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Proactively monitor cloud infrastructure, networking, and Red Hat systems to identify and resolve issues before they impact business operations. Provide timely and effective troubleshooting support to maintain system reliability and availability. Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues and improve overall system stability. Continuous Learning and Certification: Stay abreast of AWS and Red Hat updates, emerging technologies, and industry best practices through continuous learning and professional development. Pursue and maintain relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Red Hat Certified Engineer, to enhance personal and team expertise. Share knowledge and insights with the team to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud and Red Hat configurations, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and troubleshooting procedures. Facilitate knowledge sharing within the team through documentation, presentations, and training sessions. Contribute to the development of internal resources and knowledge bases to improve team productivity and efficiency. Project Leadership: Lead cloud-related projects, from planning and design to implementation and deployment. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement. Strategic Contributions: Contribute to the development of the overall cloud and Red Hat strategy, aligning it with business objectives and technology trends. Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in cloud engineering practices, driving innovation and efficiency. Stay informed about industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
