Position: Commis II Department: Kitchen/Food Production Reports To: Chef de Partie/Head Chef Job Summary: The Commis II is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes under the supervision of senior kitchen staff. The role requires a passion for food, the ability to work in a high-pressure environment, and a commitment to maintaining kitchen hygiene and standards. Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation and Cooking: Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes as per the menu and standards. Follow recipes and presentation specifications as directed by senior chefs. Ensure all food is prepared in a timely and consistent manner. Kitchen Operations: Organize and maintain preparation areas to ensure efficient workflow. Assist in monitoring stock levels and informing senior staff when supplies are low. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Hygiene and Safety: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Follow all food safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of ingredients. Participate in cleaning schedules to ensure a clean and sanitary work environment. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to achieve a smooth and efficient operation. Support senior chefs during busy periods and help with additional tasks as needed. Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless service. Qualifications and Skills: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a culinary degree or certification is a plus. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a similar role in a commercial kitchen. Skills: Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and ingredients. Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.
