Job Description

Responsibilities: • Design stable, reliable and effective databases • Optimize and maintain legacy systems • Modify databases according to requests and perform tests • Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices • Gather user requirements and identify new features • Develop technical and training manuals • Provide data management support to users • Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements • Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols • Providing inputs into the underlying systems for service improvement engaging with providers for any issues faced. • Escalating issues that are open or not resolved within the predefined timeframe. Prior Experience: • At least 15 years of experience as Database Developer • Experience in Data Warehousing concept and SQL Queries will be preferred Required Skills of the candidate: • Spark, redshift, Python, Database Development, T/SQL, Unix, Perl, Shell, PySpark, Hadoop/Spark. • Strong in scripting language like Unix/K-Shell • Hands on experience with T/SQL with expertise in MS SQL Server internals, system tables and databases • Hands on experience with Cloud based databases, migration of databases from one platform to another (SQL to NoSQL) • Knowledge of Software Development Cycle • Excellent analytical and organization skills • An ability to understand back-end requirements and a problem-solving attitude • Thorough knowledge on working of indexes, types of indexes, and indexing algorithms • Experience in architecting, optimizing, and maintaining large databases. • Expertise in query tuning using query hints and indexes • Programming skills in any platform • Basic Networking knowledge • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • B.Tech / B.E in Computers, -B.Tech / B.E in IT, or M.Tech Computers, Desired profile of the candidate: • A keen, flexible and aggressive intellect with superb conceptual thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to take ownership of client base • Proven track record of taking ownership and delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. • Possess a deep interest and aptitude in data, metrics, and analysis • Ability to handle stakeholders in a mature and highly responsive manner. • Ability to handle the day-to-day management of tasks, resolve problems and issues, and implement action plans to meet objectives within defined timelines. • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and constantly changing environment. • Demonstrated experience of thinking creatively, taking the initiative and constructively advocating on behalf of clients internally. • Demonstrated experience in showing commitment to following processes, commitment, documentation, testing, commenting. • 5 - 7 Years of experience in Data engineering, • Database Management roles. o Advanced knowledge and experience of working on large (TB Size) RDBMS databases and query optimization and performance tuning skills using T/SQL T/SQL o Experience of working on T/SQL, Cassandra, Graph DB and Mongo would be an added advantage o Experience of working on Cloud based databases, migration of databases from one platform to another o Experience of working on BIG Data Technologies and DWH frameworks would be an added plus - Ability to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment
