Job Description

Job Overview: We are looking for a Digester & CPU Operator to oversee the anaerobic digestion process and Condensate Polishing Unit (CPU) in our molasses-based ethanol plant . The role involves process monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Digester Operations: Operate and monitor anaerobic digesters to ensure efficient biogas generation. Maintain temperature, pH, and retention time for optimal performance. Identify process deviations and take corrective actions. Work with lab personnel to monitor VFAs, methane yield, and sludge characteristics . 2. Condensate Polishing Unit (CPU) Operations: Manage CPU operations to ensure effective condensate treatment . Maintain water quality within prescribed limits for reuse in the process. Conduct regular checks on ion-exchange resins, filters, and chemical dosing systems . Ensure compliance with effluent discharge norms and pollution control regulations . 3. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, and filtration systems . Troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues to minimize downtime. Ensure all operations follow safety and environmental guidelines . 4. Data Logging & Reporting: Record operational data, process parameters, and performance metrics. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on digester and CPU performance. Coordinate with plant managers and regulatory teams for compliance documentation. Key Skills Required: Anaerobic Digestion - Understanding of microbial processes and gas production Condensate Polishing Unit (CPU) Operations - Handling filtration, ion-exchange resins, and chemical dosing Ethanol Plant Operations - Knowledge of fermentation, distillation, and effluent treatment SCADA/DCS Control Systems - Monitoring and adjusting process parameters Industrial Water Treatment - Process water reuse, condensate management, and pollution control Mechanical Maintenance - Handling pumps, blowers, and filtration systems Safety & Compliance - Familiarity with pollution control board (PCB) regulations and industrial safety norms Process Optimization - Adjusting operating conditions for efficiency Data Logging & Report Preparation -Maintaining records for regulatory and operational purposes
