Role & responsibilities Facility Maintenance & Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of all campus buildings, grounds, and infrastructure. Ensure proper functioning of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems. Coordinate regular inspections and preventive maintenance schedules for all facilities and equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve facility-related issues in a timely manner Budget Management: Develop and manage the facilities annual budget, including maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects. Monitor and control costs while ensuring quality of service. Approve and track invoices and vendor contracts related to facility management. Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise and train facilities staff, including maintenance technicians, custodians, and grounds personnel. Provide guidance and leadership to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of service. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment. Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all facilities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and environmental laws. Implement and manage safety programs to minimize risks and maintain safe campus environments. Conduct regular safety drills, inspections, and audits. Capital Projects & Renovations: Lead or assist in planning, designing, and implementing capital projects, renovations, and campus improvements. Work closely with architects, contractors, and external vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects. Oversee the management of facility-related construction projects, ensuring minimal disruption to campus operations Sustainability Initiatives: Champion sustainability practices across campus, including energy efficiency, waste management, and water conservation. Promote the universitys commitment to sustainability by supporting green building certifications and environmental initiatives. Vendor & Contractor Management: Manage relationships with external contractors and vendors, ensuring quality service and adherence to university policies. Solicit bids, negotiate contracts, and manage performance evaluations for service providers. Monitor the performance and compliance of all third-party service providers. Emergency Response & Disaster Recovery: Coordinate emergency response efforts in the event of a facility-related incident (fire, flood, power failure, etc.). Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for critical campus infrastructure. Facility Planning & Space Management: Collaborate with university leadership and departments on facility planning, space utilization, and future needs. Assist with space allocation and optimization to meet evolving campus needs. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (required). At least 5 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in an academic or large institutional setting. Knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations. Experience managing a team and overseeing budgets.
