Finance Director & Country Lead About the Role We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Finance Director & Country Lead to oversee the financial strategy and operations for our India entity, ensuring alignment with global objectives and compliance with local regulations. This is a high-impact role that combines financial leadership with operational oversight of the India office. You will serve as a trusted leader on the ground, ensuring India operates smoothly, stays connected to global priorities, and in partnership with People Ops sustains a consistently, high-performing, and engaging work environment. As the connective tissue between our India operations and global leadership, you will represent local business needs, empower regional leaders, and drive initiatives that enhance financial performance, operational efficiency, and team effectiveness across JustAnswers India teams. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting, tax, and operational expertise, excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, and a proactive, solution oriented mindset to drive both financial discipline and business continuity across our India operations. What You'll Do Strategic Financial and Operational Leadership Define and execute financial strategy aligned with the companys overall goals. Provide financial leadership on key business decisions, growth initiatives, and strategic partnerships. Serve as the senior-most leader and primary representative of the company in the India office. Act as an advisor and bridge between global leadership and local teams, aligning country operations with global company strategy, culture, and goals. Represent the company's interests with external stakeholders including vendors, government entities, and community partners. Build a positive reputation for JustAnswer in the local market as an employer of choice. India Financial Operations, Reporting & Compliance Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring timely month-end close, reconciliations, and compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and Indian GAAP. Review and certify financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for accuracy and completeness. Lead quarterly and annual statutory audits and coordinate with external auditors. Ensure timely compliance with all local tax obligations, including GST, TDS, corporate income tax, and regulatory filings. Maintain strong internal controls and governance to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity. Continuously improve workflows and automation within the finance function. Support payroll compliance. Treasury & Cash Flow Management Manage cash flow and capital requirements to support operational and strategic objectives. Build and maintain relationships with banking partners to oversee investment and liquidity planning. Manage foreign exchange transactions and repatriation in line with Indian regulations. US Accounting Support Continue building a team that will provide seamless support to US accounting and finance operations. Work with the US Controller to identify new ways to expand the footprint of India accounting team in support of global finance operations. Risk Management & Compliance Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and regulatory risks. Ensure adherence to company policies and evolving regulatory requirements. Ensure adherence to local laws and regulations, partnering with global legal teams. People & Team Leadership Continue building and lead a high-performing finance team in India. Mentor and develop team members with a focus on accountability, growth, and collaboration. Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture consistent with the company's values. Be a visible, approachable leader to all local employees, promoting collaboration, engagement, and accountability. Operational Management Serve as the operational lead for the India office, ensuring alignment with both local expectations and global standards. Drive a culture of continuous improvement, integrity, and operational excellence. Oversee lease agreements, facility management, vendor contracts, and procurement. Lead initiatives to improve office operations, employee experience, and cost efficiency. What Were Looking For 12+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with increasing leadership responsibility. Proven track record of managing finance functions in complex, multi-national environments. Proven experience leading a country office or local team within a global organization, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Comfortable serving as the face and voice of the local office, representing the company's values and interests internally and externally. Expertise in IFRS, Indian GAAP, and tax regulations (direct & indirect). Chartered Accountant (CA), MBA in Finance, or Masters in Finance/Accounting. Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills. Skilled in managing day-to-day office operations including facilities, vendor contracts, compliance, and local budgeting. Ability to thrive in both structured and fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments. Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented mindset. Excellent communicator who can distill local insights and communicate effectively with global leadership.
