Job Summary: The Financial Counsellor serves as a key liaison between the hospital and patients or their families/bystanders, providing clear and compassionate financial guidance regarding medical procedures, inpatient admissions, and overall hospital billing. The role is essential in helping patients understand treatment costs, insurance coverage, available payment options, and supporting informed decision-making related to healthcare expenses. Key Responsibilities: 1. Meet with patients, bystanders, or family members to explain the estimated cost of treatment, surgery, or inpatient (IP) admission. 2. Break down hospital bills into understandable components (e.g., surgery cost, room rent, investigation charges, consultant fees, etc.). 3. Provide pre-admission cost estimates based on doctors’ instructions and procedures planned. 4. Guide patients through available insurance coverage, TPA (Third Party Administrator) approvals, and pre-authorization processes. 5. Assist with financial documentation, consent forms, and provide information about payment plans if needed. 6. Communicate updates about bill escalation during prolonged or complicated treatments. 7. Coordinate with billing, admissions, and insurance departments to provide accurate, up-to-date financial information. 8. Support patients in understanding co-payments, exclusions, or balance payments under insurance or government schemes. 9. Maintain records of financial counselling interactions and ensure documentation is accurate and confidential. 10. Handle queries and resolve concerns with empathy, professionalism, and clarity.
