Flight Mechanics Engineer – STOL Aircraft

Job Description

At LAT Aerospace, we’re building a clean-sheet Short Take-off and Landing (STOL) aircraft to transform regional air mobility in India. We’re looking for a Flight Mechanics Engineer to drive the analysis and development of the aircraft’s performance, stability, and dynamic behaviour. What you’ll doDevelop and analyse aircraft performance models (take off/landing distance, climb, cruise, endurance)Conduct stability and control analyses (longitudinal, lateral-directional, dynamic modes)Build and refine 6-DOF simulation models using MATLAB/SimulinkGenerate aircraft flight envelopes, CG limits, and performance prediction chartsSupport control surface sizing, trim analysis, and flight control system integrationCollaborate on wind tunnel testing, hardware-in-loop simulations, and flight testingAssist in flight test planning, manoeuvre definitions, and data post-processing What we're looking forMasters or PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical EngineeringStrong foundation in rigid-body flight dynamics, aerodynamics, and aircraft performanceProficiency with tools like MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or ModelicaFamiliarity with regulatory standards (FAR 23/25), especially for stability & performanceAbility to interface with design, control systems, and test engineering teamsExposure to data-driven flight model validation and parameter estimationUnderstanding of hybrid propulsion integration and non-standard power profiles Why LAT?Core team opportunity at a high-conviction deep-tech startupReal aircraft, real flying hardware, real impactBuild the future of sustainable aviation in India
