Job descriptionG K Industries Designers prepare technical drawings (blueprints) used to build a wide array of fabricated metal products, as well as the required inspection documentation that is used to perform quality assurance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Translate customer requirements, drawings and specifications into fabrication drawings, as directed by G K Industries engineers.Incorporate Design For Manufacturing best practices and Continuous Improvement (lessons learned) in the drawings.Assure consistency of drawings with fabrication routings.Assist in the programming of automated manufacturing and measurement systems.Inspect the conformance of produced items with the drawing intent.Support Purchasing, Estimating and Quoting activities with drawing related information.Address design variations with customers.Essential Skills/Qualifications:Extensive blueprint reading, interpretation, measurement and reporting.The ability to assist others with understanding blueprints and specifications.Experience using Computer Aided Drafting programs.Use of Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn new software as required.Basic skills in effective verbal and written communication.Desirable Skills/Qualifications:Experience using the Solidworks & CAD program to create sheet metal drawings.Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.Quality inspection and root cause analysis in metal fabrication related processes.Experience operating metal fabricating industry.Experience with the integration of components into assemblies.Ability to document assumptions and lessons learned, and to integrate them in future product designs.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
