The Head Business Strategist is a leadership role responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing business growth in the agricultural finance sector. This position involves driving the strategy for agricultural loans, working closely with key stakeholders to identify market opportunities, and improving the overall portfolio performance for the organizations Agri-loan offerings. The role requires a deep understanding of the agribusiness financing landscape, market trends, and the challenges faced by farmers, agri-businesses, and rural financing. The Head Business Strategist will lead cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of business strategies in alignment with the organizations growth objectives. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Develop and drive the long-term business strategy for Agri-loans within the bank/NBFC, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals. Identify market trends, emerging opportunities, and potential threats in the Agri-loan sector to proactively adjust business strategies. Lead the creation of strategic roadmaps for expansion, diversification, and improvement in the agri-loan product suite. Market Analysis & Research: Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify growth areas, market penetration strategies, and competitive positioning in the agriculture finance sector. Provide regular insights on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry innovations to stay ahead in the competitive landscape. Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, agribusinesses, financial institutions, and other industry players. Collaborate with risk, legal, and compliance teams to ensure all strategies are executable within regulatory frameworks. Forge partnerships and alliances with other organizations or fintechs to enhance agri-loan offerings and customer acquisition. Product Development & Innovation: Lead the development and enhancement of agri-loan products, ensuring they meet the specific needs of farmers, agri-businesses, and rural entrepreneurs. Innovate new loan products or services tailored to evolving agricultural trends, such as climate-smart agriculture, sustainable farming, and rural empowerment. Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the performance of agri-loan portfolios, identifying areas for improvement in terms of loan growth, repayment rates, and portfolio quality. Report to senior leadership on progress toward strategic goals, key metrics, and KPIs associated with agri-loan business performance. Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a team of business strategists, analysts, and support staff, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Provide guidance and leadership in setting clear goals, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the strategies and offerings comply with relevant regulatory requirements for agri-loan products and services. Proactively monitor any changes in the regulatory landscape and advise the business on necessary adjustments to remain compliant. Financial Planning & Budgeting: Work with the finance team to develop and manage the financial plans and budgets for Agri-loan business operations. Forecast revenues, costs, and profitability of the agri-loan portfolio, ensuring financial targets are met. Required Qualifications and Skills: Education: Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Agribusiness, or a related field. A professional qualification in banking or finance is a plus. Experience: 15+ years of experience in business strategy, financial services, or agricultural finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or managerial role. Proven experience in managing Agri-loan products and services, either in banking, NBFCs, or related sectors. Deep understanding of agricultural financing, rural economics, and the challenges facing agri-businesses. Skills: Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. In-depth knowledge of the agri-loan market, financial products, and rural development strategies. Ability to develop and implement complex business strategies and adapt them in a rapidly changing environment. Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills. Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management. Understanding of risk management principles in the context of agricultural lending. Personal Attributes: Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills. Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to identifying business opportunities. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities. Passion for the agricultural sector and rural development. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of financial inclusion programs and rural credit systems. Experience in fintech solutions for agriculture or rural lending.
