Role & responsibilities Job Title : Head Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Department : EHS / SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) Location : Daund Reports To : Plant Head / Director Operations Job Summary : The EHS Head will be responsible for leading, developing, and implementing a robust Environment, Health & Safety strategy aligned with the companys aroma chemical manufacturing operations. The role ensures full regulatory compliance, promotes a culture of safety, and proactively mitigates EHS risks across the organization. Key Responsibilities : Strategic Planning & Leadership : Develop and lead the overall EHS strategy for manufacturing facilities handling hazardous aroma chemicals. Drive a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization. Guide the leadership team in decision-making with respect to EHS impacts and risks. Regulatory Compliance : Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable EHS laws, regulations (GPCB, MPCB, CPCB, MoEF, Factories Act, etc.), and global standards. Liaise with regulatory bodies for permits, inspections, audits, and renewals. Maintain all statutory records, reports, and returns related to safety, health, and environment. Process Safety & Hazard Management : Conduct HAZOP, HIRA, JSA, and QRA for new and existing chemical processes. Lead risk assessments and implement control measures to eliminate or reduce hazards. Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals. Occupational Health & Safety : Implement safety systems for fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and occupational health surveillance. Oversee accident/incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Ensure the use and maintenance of PPEs, safety devices, and emergency response systems. Environmental Management : Monitor and control air emissions, effluent discharge, and solid waste disposal. Lead sustainability initiatives like zero discharge, energy conservation, and waste minimization. Ensure regular environmental monitoring and reporting. Training & Development : Design and conduct EHS training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors. Build EHS awareness and emergency preparedness through drills and campaigns. Develop and mentor a competent EHS team. Audit & Reporting : Lead internal and external EHS audits (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, RC, etc.). Prepare and present monthly/quarterly EHS performance reports to senior management. Ensure continuous improvement through root cause analysis and Kaizen practices. Desired Candidate Profile : Education : B.E./B.Tech in Chemical/Environmental Engineering or Science background. Diploma in Industrial Safety (recognized under Factories Act, 1948) mandatory . Experience : Minimum 20 years in EHS function, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strong experience in aroma chemicals, specialty chemicals, or hazardous chemical manufacturing industry. Skills & Competencies : Deep knowledge of Indian EHS regulations and international EHS standards. Expertise in process safety management (PSM). Strong leadership, crisis management, and communication skills. Proficient in EHS reporting tools, SAP-EHS (preferred), and audit documentation.
