The Head GST will take charge of the organizations GST-related operations, ensuring compliance with evolving GST regulations and providing strategic direction on indirect tax matters. This leadership role involves handling end-to-end GST processes, litigation, and compliance improvements, while maintaining effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in GST laws with proven leadership and strategic advisory experience. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert guidance on GST and other indirect tax matters, advising internal stakeholders and management on day-to-day and urgent GST-related issues. Lead the preparation and filing of statutory GST returns, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and the GST Annual Return. Reconcile GSTR-2A/2B with the company's books of accounts and GSTR-3B to ensure accurate reporting. Develop and oversee automated GST-related reports using Zoho or other reporting systems to streamline processes. Ensure the organization remains compliant with evolving GST laws, making necessary updates to systems and processes accordingly. Handle vehicle detention issues, respond to GST authorities, and manage appeals and tax payments using Temporary IDs when required. Draft responses to GST summons, notices, appeals, and briefs for counsel. Ensure thorough legal research and understanding of relevant case laws. Monitor vendor/supplier GST compliance, ensuring timely release of GST payments based on their filing of returns. Coordinate with internal departments, including billing teams and auditors, to resolve GST-related issues and ensure smooth operations. Conduct internal training sessions to update stakeholders on changes in GST provisions and regulations. Prepare and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for GST-related processes. Manage and motivate a team, ensuring effective delegation and timely closure of month-end activities, including tax schedules. Qualifications: Chartered Accountant (CA) with substantial experience in Indirect Taxation and GST litigation. LLB qualification would be an added advantage. Strong drafting skills with the ability to research, articulate, and defend positions on GST matters. In-depth knowledge of GST laws, E-way bills, and E-invoice regulations. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and defend viewpoints assertively. Strong team leadership and coordination abilities. Experience in dealing with GST summons, notices, and regulatory challenges. Skills and Competencies: Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Knowledge of case laws related to GST and the ability to interpret legal frameworks. Expertise in GST compliance software tools like Zoho, SAP, or similar. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
