Job Description

Overview: The Head of Industrial Sales is responsible for driving business growth, profitability, and market share across key industrial sectors such as Steel, Sugar, Chemical, Paper, Power, Automotive, Railways and other related industries . The role demands a deep understanding of market dynamics, strategic pricing decisions, and sector-specific business strategies to ensure optimal revenue realization and sustained competitive advantage. This leadership position requires a highly analytical and results-driven approach to budgeting, sales planning, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration with internal teams such as Product Management and Supply Chain. The incumbent will oversee the end-to-end sales strategy, customer relationship management, and business development initiatives to maximize the organization's footprint across targeted industrial verticals. Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Leadership & Sector Growth: Develop and implement comprehensive sector-wise business strategies that align with the organizations overall growth objectives. Identify and capitalize on emerging market opportunities to expand sales in key industrial segments. Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term and mid-term growth roadmaps , ensuring sustainable revenue and profitability. Monitor and analyze market trends, competition, and customer needs to drive continuous business expansion . 2. Pricing & Profitability Management: Establish and optimize pricing strategies for different industrial sectors based on market intelligence, competitor analysis, and cost structures. Ensure profitable revenue generation by balancing competitive pricing with margin optimization. Work closely with finance and commercial teams to align pricing policies with the companys financial goals. 3. Budgeting, Planning, and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process , ensuring realistic yet ambitious revenue and profitability targets. Drive mid-term and long-term business planning by assessing demand trends, industry cycles, and macroeconomic factors. Establish key performance metrics and continuously monitor sales performance against budgeted projections, taking corrective actions as necessary. 4. Sales & Business Development Execution: Provide strategic direction to regional sales teams and sales engineers , equipping them with market insights and sales enablement tools. Develop and implement sector-specific engagement models to strengthen relationships with key accounts and industry stakeholders. Drive business expansion by identifying and acquiring new customers while retaining and growing existing client relationships . 5. Customer Engagement & Market Intelligence: Act as a strategic partner to key industrial clients, understanding their evolving needs and positioning the companys solutions accordingly. Conduct in-depth market research and customer segmentation to tailor product offerings and service levels to industry-specific demands. Liaise with internal teamsincluding Product Management, R&D, and Supply Chain —to ensure product availability, innovation, and customer satisfaction. 6. Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with internal teams to align sales objectives with operational capabilities, ensuring seamless execution. Provide insights and recommendations to Product Management for new product development based on market needs. Collaborate with Supply Chain & Logistics to ensure timely delivery and supply chain efficiency. Interface with external stakeholders, including industry associations, government bodies, and regulatory authorities , to stay ahead of policy changes and sectoral developments. Key Skills & Competencies: Strategic Thinking & Business Acumen: Ability to develop and execute long-term sales and business strategies. Market Intelligence & Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of industrial sectors, including Steel, Cement, Energy, Mining, and Ports. Pricing & Financial Acumen: Strong grasp of pricing models, profitability analysis, and financial planning. Sales Leadership & Customer Management: Proven track record in driving sales teams, customer engagement, and key account management. Cross-functional Collaboration: Experience working with Product Management, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to drive business growth. Analytical & Decision-Making Skills: Data-driven approach to market analysis, sales forecasting, and business strategy. Strong Communication & Negotiation Skills: Ability to engage with C-level executives, industry leaders, and internal stakeholders.
