Role & responsibilities As a Hydraulic Cylinders Design Head, you (She/he) will build and lead a team, oversee the design process, to enhance efficiency and innovation. Your responsibilities would include defining design specifications, managing design tools, ensuring project compliance, and fostering a culture of innovation, all under the IATF TS 16949 Environment. Preferred candidate profile Key Responsibilities: Design & Development Leadership: Define design specifications for hydraulic cylinders, considering factors like load, stroke, speed, application in a system or product or machine and operating conditions. Project Management: Oversee the entire design process, from conceptualization to finalization, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of young engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure day to day customer order fulfilment and other new projects success and on time customer and in house production support. Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, set up internal benchmarking of the Design Department for Productivity and Cost Efficiency. Innovation and Improvement: Drive innovation in hydraulic cylinder design, exploring new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance for compliances of IATF TS 16949 Standards, sales, and marketing, to ensure product meets customer needs. Technical Expertise: Possess deep knowledge and a strong technical understanding of hydraulic systems, components, and design principles. Documentation: Prepare technical reports, update documentation & technical catalogues, and specifications for hydraulic cylinders. Testing and Analysis: Design and implement Test Procedures and Test Stands, conduct performance testing, simulations, and analysis to ensure design integrity. Cost and Reliability: Develop and implement design solutions that meet cost and reliability targets by rationalizing Designs to reduce variations in product grouping to help cost reduction for customers. Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers for component selection and integration. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for design optimization across a broad spectrum of component sizes and process improvement. AI Integration: (optional) Manage and utilize AI-powered design tools, including simulation software and optimization algorithms, to improve design efficiency and accuracy. AI-Specific Responsibilities: (OPTIONAL) Algorithm Selection and Implementation: Choose and implement appropriate AI algorithms (e.g., machine learning, optimization) for design tasks. Data Analysis: Analyze design data to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement. Model Validation and Calibration: Validate and calibrate AI models to ensure accuracy and reliability. AI Tool Management: Manage and maintain AI-powered design tools, ensuring they are up-to-date and efficient. AI-Driven Optimization: Utilize AI to optimize cylinder design parameters for improved performance, durability, ease in manufacture and cost-effectiveness. Skills and Qualifications: Engineering Degree: A bachelor's / post graduate masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is typically required. Hands on design of engineering precision closed tolerance mechanical engineering components will be an added advantage. Hydraulic Systems Expertise: Strong understanding and application engineering of hydraulic cylinders, systems, components, and design principles. AI Proficiency: Familiarity with AI algorithms, machine learning, and optimization techniques. Design Software: Proficiency in 3D/CAD software and other design tools. Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring. Team Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a team of young engineers. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
