Overview The IB PYP/MYP Physical Education Teacher plays a vital role in the holistic development of students by promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and a healthy lifestyle within the framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. This position requires an innovative educator who can develop engaging, inclusive, and differentiated programs for students ranging from ages 3 to 16. Bearing in mind the principles of the IB learner profile, the teacher is responsible for fostering not only physical skills but also social, emotional, and cognitive development through sports and physical activities. Key Responsibilities Implement and adhere to the IB PYP/MYP curriculum for physical education. Design and deliver lesson plans that meet diverse student needs and learning styles. Develop and assess physical education programs that promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, and healthy living. Facilitate and coach various sports, encouraging team dynamics and sportsmanship among students. Provide students with opportunities to participate in both individual and team sports. Engage students in promoting health and wellness concepts throughout the school environment. Maintain comprehensive records of student progress and program effectiveness. Utilize assessment tools to evaluate student performance and growth in physical education. Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and participation. Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate physical education with other subject areas. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and activities. Encourage community involvement in school sports and physical education initiatives. Participate in professional development to stay updated on best practices in physical education and IB curriculum changes. Represent the school in inter school sports competitions and events. Organize and lead after school sports clubs and activities. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field. Must have specialization in athletics or field games like football, Hockey, Cricket, Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, etc. Teaching certification or license endorsed for Physical Education. Experience teaching in an IB PYP or MYP environment is highly desirable. A minimum of 2 3 years of teaching experience in primary and secondary education. Strong understanding of child development and pedagogical methods in physical education. Ability to create engaging and age appropriate lesson plans. Knowledge of various sports and physical fitness training techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively. Proven experience in collaborating with colleagues and engaging parents. Current CPR and first aid certifications. Familiarity with assessment tools and techniques for evaluating student performance. Passion for fitness and promoting an active lifestyle among students. Cultural awareness and sensitivity in diverse educational settings.
