Job Description

Job Title: Junior Architect – U.S. Residential Design Location: Bengaluru, India (In-person 5 days a week) Experience Level: 0–2 Years Company: zHeight – The Infosys of Architecture & Design for American Homes Read This First (Seriously) If you’re looking for a chill design job with predictable hours and minimal change — this is not it. If you’re excited about learning fast, taking ownership, working on live U.S. projects from Day 1, and being part of a startup that’s scaling like crazy — read on. This role will challenge you, grow you, and quite possibly change how you see your career. What is zHeight? zHeight is a fast-growing, U.S.-based startup building a new model for residential architecture and permitting. We help American homeowners and contractors design and permit their dream homes — faster, better, and at a fraction of the traditional cost. Our India team is the heart of this engine — made up of architects from IITs, NITs, and top global design schools — working with Silicon Valley precision, speed, and hustle. We’ve already delivered 100+ permitted projects in California and beyond. We’re just getting started. Z=About the Role: Junior Architect You’ll join our India delivery team and learn by doing. Not on practice projects. On real ones — from the U.S. residential market. This is a craft-focused, execution-first role designed for high-potential architecture graduates ready to accelerate their learning curve. You’ll be surrounded by mentors, standards, and structure — but you’ll need to bring the ownership and curiosity. What You’ll Do Work on schematic design, drafting, and construction drawing sets for real single-family residential projects in the U.S. Learn and apply U.S. residential building codes (IRC, CRC, energy codes, etc.) with speed and precision. Collaborate with project leads, senior architects, and QA reviewers to refine deliverables. Participate in internal design reviews, catch errors, and continuously improve output quality. Take full ownership of your projects — timelines, quality, iterations, and learnings. Who This Role Is For Recent graduate or 0–2 years of work experience in Architecture or related field. Bachelor’s (or Master’s) in Architecture from a reputed university (NIT, IIT, India Top Schools preferred) Curious and confident — willing to learn U.S. codes from scratch and apply them fast. Ready to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, startup environment (we move quickly). Strong attention to detail — you don’t submit drawings you wouldn’t sign yourself. Excited to be part of a small but mighty team that’s changing how homes get designed. This is NOT for you if: You’re looking for a 9-to-5 with minimal learning curves. You prefer working in your comfort zone. You get defensive when your work is critiqued. You want someone to hand-hold you every step of the way. You’re allergic to new tools, new codes, or late-stage edits. Why Join zHeight Get hands-on U.S. residential experience from Day 1 — not just drafting, but full lifecycle understanding. Work with top-tier architects and mentors (from IITs, NITs, SCI-Arc). Opportunity to Move to U.S. for an On-site role on PM track or Stay in India and take Management track in the long-term Learn faster than you would in 2 years at a traditional firm. Steep growth curve both proessionally and financially Be part of a design+tech+operations company solving real problems, not just delivering drawings. Include the word “archdriven” in your subject line so we know you read this fully. Flat hierarchy, rapid growth, and massive learning ownership . How to Apply Send an email to aditya@zheight.com with: Your CV (PDF) A short note on why this role excites you Share an example of how you’ve applied any building codes (India or global) in a past project — even academic ones . Bonus if you’re familiar with U.S. residential codes or are excited to dive in. Show more Show less
