Junior Backend Engineer (LLM & Backend Development)

Job Description

About the Role We are looking for a Junior Backend Engineer who is eager to build scalable backend systems and work with Large Language Models (LLMs). You will be responsible for developing APIs, managing vector databases, and integrating AI-driven workflows. This role offers a chance to learn from senior engineers while contributing to real-world AI applications. Key Responsibilities Develop & maintain backend APIs using Python & FastAPI. Work with LLM-driven workflows, including tool calling, RAG pipelines, and embeddings. Implement & optimize vector database retrieval mechanisms. Manage SQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQLite, SQL Server) for data storage & retrieval. Work on Git-based version control & collaborative workflows. Occasionally contribute to frontend integration (HTML, JavaScript, CSS). Document API endpoints, workflows, and maintain code quality standards. Required Skills and Experience Programming: Proficiency in Python. Backend Development: Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django. LLM Workflows: Basic experience in retrieval, embeddings, and tool calling. Database Management: Experience working with PostgreSQL, SQLite, or SQL Server. Version Control: Hands-on experience with Git & collaborative workflows. Debugging & Testing: Ability to troubleshoot and write unit tests. Preferred Skills Experience with LangChain or AI-driven applications. Knowledge of vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate, etc.). Exposure to LLM fine-tuning & prompt engineering. Basic understanding of cloud services (AWS/GCP) and Docker/Kubernetes. Work Environment Hybrid role (Work from Office in Mangalore/Bangalore, with remote flexibility). Work hours must overlap with US time zones. Learning-focused environment with mentorship from senior engineers.
