Job Summary: The Kitchen Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the stewarding team and ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen and back-of-house areas. The role includes managing dishwashing operations, maintaining sanitation standards, handling kitchen equipment care, and supporting culinary and service departments. Key Responsibilities:Operational Duties: Supervise and coordinate activities of stewards to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen areas, dishwashing zones, and garbage disposal areas. Monitor and control the usage of cleaning supplies and chemicals to ensure cost-effectiveness and safety. Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly. Assist in deep cleaning schedules for kitchen equipment, floors, walls, and storage areas. Conduct regular inspections of cleanliness and hygiene practices and take corrective actions if necessary. Team Management: Lead, train, and motivate stewarding staff to perform their duties efficiently and effectively. Assign duties to stewarding staff and ensure proper shift scheduling. Conduct training sessions on hygiene standards, chemical handling, and kitchen safety. Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and grooming standards. Safety & Hygiene: Enforce HACCP and food safety standards in stewarding operations. Ensure the proper segregation and disposal of kitchen waste. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance as needed. Inventory & Supplies: Manage inventory of cleaning materials and tools. Requisition and restock supplies as needed. Monitor breakage and recommend solutions to minimize losses. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and team management skills. Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and maintenance. Good communication and organizational skills. Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in hospitality is a plus. Minimum 2–3 years of experience in stewarding, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Previous experience in hotels or large-scale restaurants is preferred.
