We are looking for an experienced software developer to join the DESIM team at the D. E. Shaw India office based in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram. D. E. Shaw Investment Management (DESIM), founded in 2005, focuses on developing active equity and multi-asset class investment strategies by identifying market inefficiencies and constructing optimal portfolios. Collaborating with our New York teams, the DESIM India team plays a crucial role in the development of software and quantitative tools for portfolio strategy, trading, quant research and portfolio management. The performance and quality of these tools are crucial to the firm's business strategy. At DESIM, our development team collaborates closely with portfolio managers, traders, quants, and portfolio strategists to support and drive business objectives through innovative software solutions. Our key responsibilities include developing and enhancing sophisticated portfolio analytics tools, leveraging advanced technology to make the trading lifecycle more efficient, and working on projects that require deep financial domain expertise. We are committed to upholding strong standards of software quality and efficiently managing our business infrastructure to ensure robust and reliable performance. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: In this role, you will collaborate closely with our New York business team to design, maintain, and develop software tools. You will build tools for portfolio analytics, and design scalable and efficient APIs. You will lead project execution in an agile environment, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and gain exposure to the trading business and technology in a leading financial firm. You will be expected to develop proficiency in backend technologies like Python along with related libraries and use it to develop various business centric tools. Additionally, you will gain comprehensive financial knowledge and understand DESIM's domain & infrastructure. As part of your role, you will also mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, increasing their productivity, and maintaining good code quality. Building a strong rapport with stakeholder such as Traders, Portfolio strategists, Portfolio manager & Quants through effective communication and collaboration on projects is essential. Success in this role will be measured by the quality of interaction, feedback, and successful project implementation. WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: Basic qualifications: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field with 4 - 8 years of relevant experience Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages. Our primary environment is Python on Linux.
