Job Description

Dear candidate, We at Reliance Industries, RE- Power team are hiring for a Legal Manager for our Mumbai office in Ghansoli location. Key Responsibilities 1. Compliance & Regulatory Ensure business operations comply with state and central laws, electricity regulations, environmental norms, and company policies. Monitor and implement Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) policies, ESG compliance, and other regulatory frameworks. Develop, implement, and oversee compliance programs across projects, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), and business units. Conduct risk assessments, prepare breach reports, and advise on mitigation strategies. Liaise with regulatory authorities, ensuring timely filings, audits, and statutory approvals. 2. Contract Drafting & Transaction Advisory Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts such as: Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), EPC Contracts, O&M Contracts, Land Lease Deeds, Sale Deeds. Financing & Investment Agreements, Consultancy Contracts, NDAs, Joint Venture Agreements. Provide legal risk analysis on tender documents, RFPs/RFQs, and government contracts. Advise business teams on contract structuring, procurement strategies, and risk mitigation. Maintain contractual templates and frameworks in line with evolving legal landscapes. 3. Litigation & Dispute Resolution Handle litigation and regulatory proceedings related to the renewable energy sector, including: State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERCs), Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL), High Courts, and NCLT. Collaborate with external counsel on disputes related to land acquisition, environmental clearances, power tariffs, and project execution. Represent the organization in regulatory, judicial, and administrative proceedings. Draft and review legal notices, petitions, writs, and compliance reports. Preferred Candidate Profile Strong understanding of land laws and regulatory frameworks governing renewable energy projects. Knowledge of the Electricity Act, state electricity policies, SECI guidelines, and power sector regulations. Experience in contract negotiation, compliance frameworks, and litigation strategy within the renewable energy space. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and with government authorities. Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of handling high-stakes legal matters in a dynamic business environment.
