lokal est un bureau d'études paysagères, basé à l'île de Ré fondé par Jean-Baptiste Lacombe, paysagiste dplg et Aude Roi, architecte hmonp et urbaniste. lokal propose une méthode de projet ouverte et transversale. La démarche mise en place consiste à mettre en système ce qui ne l’est pas et respecter l’équilibre en place. Le projet doit servir et participer à un ensemble. Chaque projet mené par l’agence est l’occasion de mettre en commun des compétences en urbanisme, en architecture, en écologie et en paysage. En fonction des besoins, lokal constitue une équipe de conception pluridisciplinaire faisant appel à des spécialistes tels qu’ expert phytosanitaire, historien, économiste, ou hydrologue. La médiation et la communication du projet sont aussi travaillées que le projet lui-même. Le processus d’appropriation est intégré dès les phases d’études. La fabrication du paysage est permanente. Il n’y a pas un avant et un après, mais un ensemble de modificateurs et de variantes qui influent sur une dynamique. La construction de la ville et sa métropole est un des sujets qui anime l’agence. Pour autant, la part de l’agriculture et des processus de production divers ne doivent pas être interprétés comme un négatif de la ville. La synergie apportée par les multiples projets de construction physique ou culturelle, sociale ou économique, doit constituer la matière première du projet de ville et de territoire dans sa globalité.
