A Machine Shop Lead-Operating Engineer oversees the daily operations of a machine shop, ensuring efficient and safe production. They combine leadership and technical expertise to manage a team, maintain machinery, and improve processes. This role also involves tasks like planning, scheduling, and troubleshooting, while ensuring quality standards are met. Key Responsibilities: Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop and implement production schedules, prioritize tasks, and manage work flow to meet deadlines. Team Leadership and Supervision: Lead and supervise a team of machine operators, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped, and that safety protocols are followed. Machine Maintenance and Repair: Perform or oversee the maintenance and repair of machine shop equipment, including preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Process Improvement : Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. Quality Control: Monitor and ensure the quality of machined parts and products, using appropriate measuring equipment and testing methods. Safety Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment by following and enforcing safety regulations and procedures. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production runs, maintenance activities, and any issues that arise. Coordination: Coordinate with other departments, such as engineering and quality control, to ensure smooth production flow. Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production issues, including machine malfunctions, process bottlenecks, and quality problems. Skills and Qualifications: Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of machining processes, machine tools, and manufacturing equipment.
