Role & responsibilities 1. Deliver on time every time . Candidate should deliver the RFI/RFQ responses on time consistently (KPI). The candidate should optimise speed of estimation (no of parts/assemblies per day) by leveraging data (current cycle times, material prices, customer processes etc) and continuously improve the output efficiency. 2. Cost Estimation & Should Costing:** Lead the development of detailed cost estimates for aerospace manufacturing projects, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and expectations. Perform should costing exercises to assess the potential cost structure of components and assemblies. 3. Costing for Bids & Commercials:** Analyze BOMs from engineering, project specifications and create accurate costing models, cost breakdown structure sheets for new business proposals, bids, and contracts. Collaborate with business development teams to ensure cost-effective solutions while maintaining competitiveness in bids. 4. Manufacturing Process Knowledge:** Stay up-to-date with the latest aerospace manufacturing technologies, especially in sheet metal, Machining , and related special processes. Evaluate and optimize manufacturing methods to ensure the most efficient costing practices. Ability to read Drawings from Major OEMs like Airbus , Boeing etc and read specs. 5. Machine Hour Rate Calculation:** Develop and validate machine hour rates by working closely with production teams and reviewing historical data. Ensure accurate setup times and operational efficiency factors are reflected in cost estimates. 6. Assembly Exposure:** Lead efforts to develop accurate assembly cost estimates, considering all aspects of assembly workflows. Integrate knowledge of aerospace assembly complexities to improve cost estimation accuracy. Costing for Jigs and fixtures, special tools. 7. Collaboration & Communication:** Work closely with production engineers, project managers, and senior leadership to ensure the timely and accurate submission of cost proposals. 8. Data Analysis & Reporting:** Analyze historical data, benchmarking against industry standards, and assess cost drivers. Provide regular cost analysis reports to senior management to support strategic decision-making. 9. Advanced Excel & PowerPoint Skills:** Utilize advanced Excel functions (such as pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas) for in-depth data analysis and financial modeling. Create impactful PowerPoint presentations to communicate cost estimates, project financials, and analysis to senior leadership and stakeholders. - **Skills:** - Expertise in cost estimation methodologies (previous experience in should costing would also be good ) - Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing techniques, including sheet metal forming, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly processes - Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, macros, complex formulas) for cost analysis and financial modeling - Strong PowerPoint skills for presenting cost estimates, financial performance, and analysis to stakeholders - Strong financial management skills to assess project profitability, margins, and cost structure - Ability to develop machine hour rates and setup times based on historical data and process analysis - Strong communication skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams - Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in cost calculations and estimations Team management skills. Preferred candidate profile - **Education:** Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree is a plus. - **Experience:** At least 14 - 16 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, with a focus on cost estimation, bid commercial costing, or should costing. Experience in sheet metal, machining, structural assemblies, engine components manufacturing etc. Perks and benefits
