Role & responsibilities Key Responsibilities 1. Project Planning and Scheduling Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules for the SMS and WRM projects, including milestones, critical paths, and resource allocation. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and workforce. Utilize project management tools and software to track project progress and identify potential delays or bottlenecks. Prepare and present project progress reports, highlighting any deviations from the schedule and recommending corrective actions. 2. Bills of Materials (BOM) Preparation Prepare and maintain an accurate BOM for both SMS and WRM projects, ensuring that all required materials are listed, quantified, and sourced within the project timeline. Work with procurement and engineering teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment as per the BOM. Regularly update the BOM to account for changes in project scope or design and ensure alignment with construction requirements. 3. Cost Monitoring and Control Monitor project budgets and expenses, ensuring that all costs are tracked and controlled within the approved limits. Work with the finance team to prepare detailed cost reports, comparing actual expenses to budgeted costs. Analyze cost overruns or savings, providing recommendations for corrective actions where necessary. Ensure that all project costs (labor, materials, subcontractors, etc.) are recorded and accounted for accurately. 4. Risk Management and Mitigation Identify project risks related to scheduling, cost, procurement, and resources. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure project timelines and budgets are adhered to. Proactively address issues that may arise during the project lifecycle and ensure timely resolution. 5. Project Monitoring and Reporting Continuously monitor project progress against established schedules and budgets. Prepare detailed monthly project progress reports for senior management, highlighting key achievements, delays, cost overruns, and any corrective actions taken. Participate in regular project review meetings to discuss status updates, project changes, and future planning. 6. Coordination and Stakeholder Management Liaise with project stakeholders (including engineers, contractors, vendors, and management) to ensure smooth project execution. Coordinate with all departments to ensure the flow of information and maintain alignment with project goals. Ensure all teams have the necessary resources, information, and documentation to complete their tasks efficiently. Preferred candidate profile Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and monitoring tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, etc.). Proficiency in preparing and managing Bills of Materials (BOM) and coordinating material procurement processes. In-depth understanding of cost management and financial control, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting. Knowledge of construction and engineering principles related to SMS and WRM projects. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills Ability to analyze complex project data and identify issues related to scheduling and cost. Strong problem-solving skills to address delays, cost overruns, and resource allocation challenges. Communication and Collaboration Strong verbal and written communication skills to prepare reports, present updates, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Ability to collaborate with various departments to align project goals and deliverables. Project Management and Organization Ability to manage multiple project aspects simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail while ensuring overall project success. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Risk and Compliance Management Strong understanding of risk management principles and the ability to implement mitigation strategies. Knowledge of project compliance and regulatory requirements specific to steel plant construction and operations. Key Performance Indicators Timely completion of project milestones and deliverables as per the project schedule. Accuracy and efficiency in BOM preparation and material procurement. Effective cost control and budget adherence with minimal variances. Proactive identification and resolution of project risks. Successful coordination and communication with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
