Job Description

Role & responsibilities The Manager for Project Planning, Scheduling, Monitoring, and Cost Control will be responsible for overseeing the detailed planning, tracking, and cost management for the Captive Power Plant (CPP) and Total Power System projects. The role requires expertise in developing project schedules, monitoring progress, preparing Bills of Materials (BOM), and managing project costs to ensure the successful execution of these vital projects. Preferred candidate profile 1. Project Planning and Scheduling Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules for the CPP and Total Power System projects, including milestones, critical paths, and resource allocation. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and workforce for the projects. Use project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) to track project progress and identify potential delays, constraints, or risks. Prepare detailed project schedules, ensuring all timelines, dependencies, and deliverables are captured and communicated effectively to stakeholders. Ensure proper resource allocation and management across all phases of the projects. 2. Bills of Materials (BOM) Preparation Prepare and maintain an accurate BOM for both CPP and Total Power System projects, ensuring all required materials, equipment, and systems are listed and quantified. Work closely with the procurement and engineering teams to ensure the timely sourcing and delivery of all materials as per the project timeline. Regularly update the BOM to reflect any changes in project scope, technical specifications, or construction requirements. 3. Cost Monitoring and Control Monitor the project budgets and expenses, ensuring that all costs are tracked, reported, and controlled within the allocated budget. Work with finance and project teams to prepare detailed cost reports and provide insights on any variances between actual and planned expenditures. Track procurement and construction costs to ensure they align with budget forecasts. Proactively identify areas for cost-saving and recommend corrective actions for any potential cost overruns. 4. Project Monitoring and Reporting Continuously monitor the progress of the CPP and Total Power System projects against established schedules and budgets. Prepare and present detailed monthly project progress reports for senior management, highlighting achievements, delays, cost performance, and any corrective actions taken. Conduct regular project reviews to assess risks, quality, and performance, and to discuss any changes to project scope or schedule. 5. Risk Management and Mitigation Identify and assess risks related to project schedule, cost, resources, and procurement. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, ensuring that the projects remain on track with respect to timelines and costs. Actively manage project changes, including scope adjustments, schedule modifications, and budget reallocations. 6. Coordination and Stakeholder Management Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction, to ensure the timely execution of the projects. Ensure smooth communication between all project stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and deliverables. Collaborate with external stakeholders such as contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and coordination. Required Skills and Competencies Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and monitoring software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.). Expertise in preparing Bills of Materials (BOM) and coordinating material procurement processes. In-depth understanding of cost estimation, budget tracking, and financial control within large-scale industrial projects. Familiarity with the technical and operational aspects of Captive Power Plants and Power Systems, including power generation, distribution, and infrastructure. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills Strong analytical skills to assess project data, identify issues, and develop solutions for potential risks and delays. Ability to anticipate problems and provide proactive solutions for project delays, cost overruns, or resource constraints. Project Management and Organizational Skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and handle complex project requirements across various functions. Proven project management skills with a focus on cost, quality, and schedule management. Ability to create clear and detailed reports and documentation for stakeholders at all levels. Communication and Collaboration Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with project teams, contractors, and management. Risk and Compliance Management Ability to identify and mitigate project risks related to schedule, cost, procurement, and technical challenges. Knowledge of safety standards, compliance regulations, and best practices related to CPP and Power System projects. Key Performance Indicators Timely completion of project milestones and deliverables as per the established schedule. Accuracy and efficiency in BOM preparation and material procurement. Effective cost control with minimal budget variances. Proactive identification and mitigation of risks to project schedules and costs. Successful collaboration and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
