Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Medical Report Transcription: Type medical reports, patient history, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other clinical documents dictated by healthcare providers. Maintain Patient Records: Ensure patient records are up-to-date, properly filed, and accessible to healthcare professionals when needed. Proofreading and Editing: Review typed documents for accuracy, proper formatting, and completeness before submission. Confidentiality and Privacy: Uphold confidentiality standards and adhere to data protection policies to maintain patient privacy. Communication and Coordination: Communicate with healthcare providers, including doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, to clarify information when necessary. Support Administrative Tasks: Assist with various clerical duties, such as filing, organizing, and retrieving patient charts and records. Record Retrieval and Filing: Ensure proper filing of documents and maintain organized records that can be quickly retrieved for ongoing patient care. Timeliness: Ensure all documents are completed in a timely manner to support smooth patient care operations and timely decision-making. Preferred candidate profile Educational Requirements: Certification or training in medical transcription or relevant administrative courses is desirable. Typing Skills: Must be proficient in typing with a speed of 40-50 words per minute with high accuracy. Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer-based typing software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel) and hospital management software or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Familiarity with hospital management systems, or the ability to quickly learn new software. Medical Terminology Knowledge: Basic understanding of medical terminology, particularly related to the hospitals IPD operations, including clinical terms and abbreviations. Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate data entry and typing, especially with sensitive patient information. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with medical staff and administrative teams. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently in a busy work environment. Experience: Preferred: Previous experience as a typist in a healthcare or hospital environment, especially in an inpatient setting or medical records department. Personal Attributes: Strong work ethic, punctual, and reliable. Good interpersonal skills to interact with different departments. Ability to maintain focus and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer. Good vision for reading and reviewing documents. Good hand-eye coordination for typing and data entry tasks.
