Senior Software Engineer/ Lead Job Purpose The Development team at Gresham is responsible for identifying, building and maintaining innovative technologies that solve our customers Control For Investment Management problems. Our Senior Software Engineers exploit the latest advances in technology to build leading edge solutions, working collaboratively with other members of the team, to deliver innovative high-quality software to our customers. You contribute to all aspects of the development life cycle with the majority of your time devoted to design and coding in SQL. We are migrating to a microservice architecture, where experience in related technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, C# .Net, Omnis, & SQL would be advantageous. As Senior Software Engineer you proactively share knowledge outside of immediate projects, helping others develop programming skills and raising awareness of ‘interesting’ technologies. We embrace modern methodologies with self-managed teams utilising Kanban or Scrum as an overarching agile practice. Key Responsibilities You are responsible for writing clean, secure and well-tested code, to the high quality required by Gresham’s customers Identifying appropriate technology and approaches, you are passionate about new technologies and work to inspire others You are responsible for assisting our Architects in selecting new technologies for use in the company’s products Using test driven development, pair-programming and other elements of Agile methodologies you will drive changes and improvements to process Promoting knowledge sharing and adoption of good practice, you are responsible for maintaining and improving system robustness, resilience and stability You have and are responsible for sharing, knowledge of automated test frameworks; performance testing; security testing; static code analysis techniques You are happy challenging assumptions and continuously improving our processes and quality practices You are key in coaching, mentoring and supporting the learning and development of less experienced colleagues Key Skills Extensive experience of delivering solutions in SQL Server Experience developing applications in Omnis Experience of SQL Server databases would be of value Financial Services experience would be advantageous Attributes Self-motivated and able to work under own autonomy with a collaborative approach Able to be take on problems without a defined approach to drive positive business outcomes Excellent verbal and written communication skills Enthusiasm, excellent judgement and communication skills Demonstrable curiosity and passion for new technology A pragmatic attitude Key Stakeholders Reports to Development Manager Development and Testing teams Delivery and Customer Support teams
