Position: Sr. Manager / Manager (Instrumentation) - O&MLocation: Chennai (Head Office)Qualification:Diploma in E&I with 20โ€“25 years of relevant experienceORB.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Instrumentation with 15โ€“20 years of relevant experience Job Purpose:To lead the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) domain in the O&M department, ensuring reliable operation, timely maintenance, and continual improvement of field instrumentation, analytical equipment, PLC systems, SCADA and control philosophies across all water and wastewater treatment plants. This role demands strong technical expertise, leadership in reliability and team management, and close coordination with all stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:Manage preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all field and analytical instruments (flow, level, temperature, pressure, pH, conductivity, FRC, turbidity, DO, MLSS, BOD, etc.).Ensure regular calibration and troubleshooting of instruments to maintain performance accuracy.Lead maintenance planning to ensure high availability of systems and minimal downtime.Hands-on configuration and maintenance of PLC systems and SCADA for various process applications.Interpret and implement control logic as per P&IDs and control philosophies.Troubleshoot PLC-based process automation systems to ensure process continuity.Train and build a reliable, high-performing I&C team at various sites.Consistently work on automation initiatives to reduce resources .Ensure strict implementation of SOPs, EHS, and Quality procedures.Drive a culture of continual improvement and root-cause analysis for recurring issues.Coordinate with Clients, Site Teams, OEMs, and Vendors for smooth operations.Manage subcontractors, vendor contracts, purchase orders, and amendments effectively.Prepare and execute preventive actions including monsoon preparedness.Ensure customer satisfaction through timely issue resolution, performance reporting, and transparent communication.Monitor and control operations to meet and exceed defined KPIs.Support audits and documentation as per ISO, EHS, and regulatory requirements.Cost optimization and providing competitive price for the new tenders. Key Skills & Competencies:Deep knowledge of field instruments and their process integration in WTPs and STPs.Hands-on experience in PLC configuration, troubleshooting, and automation logic.Proficiency in reading P&IDs and applying control strategies.Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, and vendor management.Leadership ability to manage a multi-location team and build a culture of ownership.Strong communication skills โ€“ written and verbal.Result-oriented, with a focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence.Instrumentation and automation in O&M of water & wastewater treatment plants.Experience with SCADA and DCS environments.Exposure to CMMS for maintenance tracking and reporting.
