Job Description Job Description: The Platform Performance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of enterprise platforms. This role demands deep expertise in performance engineering, system optimization, and troubleshooting across complex systems, as well as strong familiarity with monitoring and performance testing tools. The engineer will work closely with development, operations, and QA teams, implement automation, and ensure adherence to key metrics across performance and infrastructure health. Key Responsibilities: Performance Testing & Optimization Design and execute performance tests to identify system bottlenecks and optimize application performance. Develop performance benchmarks for various platforms and ensure they meet SLAs. Work closely with developers to optimize code, database queries, and system configurations System Analysis & Troubleshooting Perform root cause analysis for performance issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers. Develop tools and scripts to monitor and analyze system performance in real-time. Collaborate with operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve performance incidents. Capacity Planning Analyze platform usage trends to predict future capacity needs and support scaling strategies. Develop and maintain capacity models to ensure platform readiness for traffic spikes and growth. Monitoring & Automation Implement advanced monitoring solutions using tools like Dynatrace, or Big Panda. Automate performance testing and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency and consistency. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing Partner with development, operations, and QA teams to promote performance-aware design and practices. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members on performance engineering concepts and tools. Documentation & Reporting Maintain detailed documentation of performance testing procedures, results, and system optimizations. Generate performance reports and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. Qualifications Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience in performance engineering or a related role. Expertise in performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or Gatling. Strong knowledge of APM tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, or AppDynamics. Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., ELK Stack, Grafana, Splunk). Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Java, Python, or Shell. Strong understanding of system architecture, networking, databases, and operating systems. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, including auto-scaling and elasticity concepts. Soft Skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. A proactive and detail-oriented mindset. Preferred Qualifications Experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture. Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Performance engineering certifications are a plus. Show more Show less
