Power BI Developer

Job Description

Job Title: Power BI Developer Location: Remote Employment Type: Contract JOb description: Design, develop, and deploy intuitive and visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports. Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Develop complex DAX calculations and Power Query (M) transformations. Create and optimize data models (star/snowflake schema) for report performance and usability. Connect Power BI to various data sources (SQL Server, Excel, APIs, cloud databases, etc.). Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) to restrict data access by user roles. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and refresh reliability across reports. Collaborate with business units to identify KPIs, metrics, and reporting needs. Use Power BI Service to manage and publish content, schedule refreshes, and maintain workspaces. Troubleshoot and resolve performance or data-related issues in Power BI reports and models. Stay up to date with Power BI updates, new features, and best practices. Required Skills and Qualifications: 9+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI development. Proficient in DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI Desktop. Strong understanding of data modeling and relational databases. Experience working with SQL (T-SQL or similar). Familiarity with Power BI Service (publishing, workspaces, refreshes, RLS, etc.). Experience in connecting Power BI to diverse data sources (Azure, Excel, APIs, on-prem SQL, etc.). Good understanding of data visualization principles and UX/UI best practices. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in a remote working environment. Preferred/Bonus Skills: Experience with Power BI Premium and deployment pipelines. Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, or other cloud data services. Experience with version control (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps) and ALM Toolkit. Basic understanding of Power Automate and integration with Power Platform. Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
