About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated Product Owner with expertise in Linux Kernel development to lead and drive the roadmap for the projects in kernel and low-level software components. The candidate will work closely with development teams, stakeholders, and customers to define product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure high-quality deliverables that align with business goals. Your Team This position does not have any direct or indirect reports; but need to support about 15+ member team on SW development process and best practices. What You Will Do Define and Drive the Product Roadmap: Collaborate with stakeholders, customers, development teams, and leadership to establish the vision and strategic roadmap for product development, with a strong focus on kernel and driver technologies. Requirement Gathering & Prioritization: Gather technical and business requirements from stakeholders and translate them into actionable user stories and backlog items. Backlog Management: Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical feasibility. Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with kernel engineers, firmware teams, and hardware teams to ensure smooth development, integration, and optimization of kernel components. Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between engineering teams, business units, and external partners (e.g., SoC vendors like Qualcomm, Nvidia, etc. ). Risk Management: Identify potential risks in backporting patches, security vulnerabilities, and performance bottlenecks and work with engineering teams to mitigate them. Technical Understanding: Have a strong understanding of Linux Kernel internals, device drivers, memory management, file systems, and security mechanisms to make informed decisions. Performance & Quality Assurance: Ensure kernel performance, stability, and security meet industry standards through testing, profiling, and debugging . Compliance & Open Source Contribution: Ensure compliance with open-source licensing (GPL, BSD, etc.) and contribute to back merge kernel development when necessary. Act as a Servant Leader by supporting the team members, empowering them to self-organize, and ensuring they have everything they need to succeed. Drive team with Act like Owner Mindset. What You Need Master’s/bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering 14+ years of experience in software development and SDLC. Experience working as a Product Owner, Technical Lead, or Engineering Manager in kernel or embedded software development. Deep knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and backlog management tools, with experience in ASPICE processes and participation in ASPICE audits. Strong communication and inter-personal skills. Knowledge of hardware architecture (ARM 64), SoC platforms, and low-level debugging tools Have a strong understanding of Linux Kernel internals, device drivers, memory management, file systems, and security mechanisms to make informed decisions Have a strong understanding of Real time OS and Different subsystems drivers like Display, Camera, Ethernet PCIe etc Solid understanding of system architecture Languages: Required: C, productivity tools Desirable: Scripting, Yocto, perl, Phyton Tools: GIT, XLS, Power BI, JIRA, DOORs, UML Design Tools What is Nice to Have Master’s degree or PG Diploma in Embedded systems or equivalent Experience with multi-core System-on-Chip processors Experience developing automotive products Experience with ASPICE compatible software development practices What Makes You Eligible Be willing to travel up to 10% domestic and international travel Willingness to work in Bangalore.
