Position Title : Principal Location : Chennai Relocation : Candidate must be willing to relocate to Chennai with family Reporting To : Director Velammal Group of Institutions Type : Full-Time Key Eligibility Criteria Experience as Principal : Minimum 6 years of proven leadership experience as a Principal in a reputed CBSE/ Teaching Background : Minimum 8 years of teaching experience as a PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) in senior secondary classes (Grades 11 and 12). School Size Handled : Minimum student strength managed: 1500 students Experience in managing classes with an average strength of 30 students per section Core Responsibilities Academic Leadership Lead the academic planning and ensure delivery of the curriculum as per CBSE Drive pedagogical improvements across grades, including teacher training, lesson planning, and modern teaching techniques. Monitor student performance and implement academic interventions to improve overall school results. Promote integrated learning methodologies, subject-specific enrichment programs, and competitive exam readiness (e.g., NEET, JEE, Olympiads). Administrative Management Ensure smooth daily operations of the school including admissions, timetables, schedules, and resource management. Supervise teaching and non-teaching staff; ensure adherence to code of conduct, punctuality, and professionalism. Coordinate with the management for infrastructure planning, compliance, and budget requirements. Maintain statutory compliance with education boards and government authorities. Faculty Development & HR Oversee recruitment, orientation, appraisal, and retention of qualified faculty and staff. Conduct regular capacity-building sessions, workshops, and professional development programs for staff. Maintain optimal teacher-student ratios and ensure effective teacher allocation based on subject expertise. Parent & Community Engagement Conduct regular Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and maintain transparent communication with parents. Create community engagement programs to promote school visibility and enhance public relations. Discipline & Student Welfare Maintain discipline and uphold school values. Provide mentorship to students and staff, addressing behavioral or academic concerns empathetically and proactively. Ensure child safety, psychological well-being, and inclusive educational practices. Preferred Attributes Strong command of English and Tamil (bilingual fluency preferred). Technologically adept, capable of overseeing digital classrooms and administrative ERP platforms. Leadership presence with excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills. Proven track record in achieving academic excellence and school growth.
