Job Title : Procurement Engineer Department : Procurement Location : Hadapsar & Saswad - Pune Position : Sr. Engineer / Assistant Manager / Manager Job Responsibilities : Procurement and Supply Chain Management Electrical & Mechanical Bought-Out Items 1. Vendor Management & Procurement Floating inquiries to approved vendors for electrical items (switchgear, transformers, cables, circuit breakers, panels, motors, sensors) and mechanical components (pumps, valves, bearings, fasteners, fabricated structures, pneumatics, hydraulics). Evaluating quotations based on cost, quality, lead time, and technical specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements. Negotiating with suppliers for optimal pricing, warranty terms, and delivery schedules. 2. Cost Estimation & Analysis Preparing cost estimates for electrical and mechanical materials, considering market trends, historical pricing, and vendor benchmarks. Conducting comparative analysis to select the most cost-effective and technically compliant options. Implementing value engineering and alternate sourcing to optimize procurement costs. 3. Purchase Order (PO) Processing & Classification Converting PRs (Purchase Requests) into POs (Purchase Orders) based on procurement classifications: A High-value critical items (e.g., transformers, pumps, specialized machinery). B Medium-value standard items (e.g., cables, motors, fabricated structures). C Low-value consumables (e.g., fasteners, connectors, general hardware). Ensuring purchase approvals and order placements are completed within defined timelines. 4. Vendor Coordination & Delivery Management Expediting and following up with vendors to ensure timely supply of electrical and mechanical components as per project schedules. Addressing delays, quality concerns, and logistics issues proactively to minimize project risks. Maintaining strong supplier relationships for continuous improvements in delivery and service. 5. Receipt & Documentation Compliance Ensuring smooth clearance of pending challans and GRRs (Goods Receipt Reports) for inventory tracking. Coordinating with QA and Stores teams to verify received goods for quantity and quality compliance. Managing discrepancies in received materials and initiating corrective actions where required. 6. Project Coordination & Reporting Providing procurement updates to Project Managers on material availability, lead times, and potential bottlenecks. Working closely with Projects, QA, Stores, and Engineering departments to align procurement strategies with operational demands. 7. Cost Reduction & Sustainability Initiatives Driving cost reduction projects through strategic vendor selection, bulk ordering, and process optimization. Implementing Green Buying initiatives by prioritizing eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and recyclable electrical and mechanical materials. Exploring alternative materials and vendors to achieve cost savings without compromising quality. 8. Financial & Supplier Relationship Management Managing creditors efficiently, ensuring timely payments while optimizing cash flow. Establishing long-term supplier partnerships to improve procurement efficiency and reliability. Engaging in supplier performance evaluations and continuous improvement programs. 9. Compliance & Process Documentation Ensuring adherence to QMS (Quality Management System), EMS (Environmental Management System), and OHSAS (Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series) as per Apex Manual guidelines. Documenting procurement processes and mapping skills related to IMS (Integrated Management System) for process improvements and audits.
