Job Description Position Title: Resident Doctor Location: JIRS Campus, Bangalore Employment Type: Full-time, Residential Position Overview: The Resident Doctor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to students and staff at JIRS. This role encompasses clinical practice, emergency response, healthcare administration, team leadership, and health education within a fully residential school environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, effective communication skills, and a compassionate approach to adolescent health and well-being. Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical Care: • Provide primary medical care as the on-campus Resident Doctor, ensuring 24/7 medical availability. • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions; prescribe and monitor treatment plans. • Attend to medical emergencies promptly and efficiently, including trauma, acute illness, and psychological distress. • Maintain clear, detailed, and confidential medical records in line with regulatory standards and institutional policies. 2. Medical Administration: • Ensure adherence to scheduled hours and be available for emergency calls outside of clinic timings. • Conduct regular health rounds in boarding houses to monitor student well-being and address medical concerns proactively. • Oversee inventory and timely procurement of medicines and medical supplies, ensuring availability of essential items. • Implement preventive healthcare measures, including vaccination drives, hygiene campaigns, and awareness sessions. 3. Team Management & Coordination: • Supervise a team of 45 paramedical staff, ensuring roles are clearly defined, and duties are executed effectively. • Coordinate with school counselors, sports staff, and academic personnel to support holistic student health. • Facilitate clear, empathetic communication with parents, especially during health-related concerns or emergencies. • Address and resolve concerns from distressed parents in a calm, professional, and reassuring manner. 4. Stakeholder Engagement & Development: • Build and maintain relationships with local hospitals, specialists, and medical professionals for referrals and advanced care. • Stay abreast of current medical knowledge, regulatory norms, and best practices through continuous professional development. • Participate in school health audits and quality initiatives aligned with medico-legal and accreditation standards. Essential Skills: • MBBS degree (mandatory); higher qualifications preferred. • Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (or relevant state medical board). • Minimum of 35 years of clinical experience; prior experience in a residential school or institutional setup is highly desirable. • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. • Familiarity with school health programs, adolescent medicine, and emergency response protocols.
