Safety Officer

Job Description

Functional: • Develops policies and procedures to ensure the safety and health of all employees, contractors and visitors to the company as per plan. • Monitors the organizations operations, processes and procedures to ensure that they comply with safety and health regulations. • Carries out Safety Patrol with or without the assistance of Safety Committee Members to ensure incident free machines/workplace/persons. • Conducts safety audits at work places to identify unsafe conditions and unsafe practices • Investigates and reports accidents/incidents, recommends necessary changes, to ensure that the unit/ dept. complies with safety and health regulations. • Provides regular training on Safety and health related programmes to all employees at defined periodicity. • Conducts Safety Committee Meetings at defined periodicity. • Promotes safety awareness among employees by conducting safety competitions • Organises for work place monitoring at defined intervals and recommend corrective measures. • Establishes and maintains internal consultative process on safety and health. • Liaise with factory inspectorate and carries out statutory tests for legal compliance • Maintains Quality standards (ISO/TS 16949/ ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001/EnMS), and meet set targets. • Carryout the duties specified under the Factories act Budgeting: • Plan and prepare the annual departmental capital budget • Plan and prepare the annual departmental revenue budget by accounting for training and development for meeting departing goals and objectives Cost Management: • Control cost through effective utilization of all resources to improve efficiency of the department Management Reporting: • Establish relevant reporting mechanisms to collect data and analysis for making suitable decisions.
