Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Officer to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations in our manufacturing facility in Chennai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a culture of workplace safety. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and standards as per legal and company requirements. Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations, including the Factories Act and other applicable laws. Organize and lead safety training programs for employees, including fire safety, first aid, and emergency preparedness. Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and provide reports with recommendations for preventive measures. Maintain and update safety records, reports, and documentation as required by regulatory authorities. Collaborate with department heads and production teams to enhance safety awareness and risk mitigation. Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Conduct emergency drills and ensure the effectiveness of emergency response plans. Stay updated on industry best practices, new safety regulations, and technological advancements in workplace safety. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelors degree/Diploma in Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field. Certification in Industrial Safety (e.g., Diploma in Industrial Safety, NEBOSH, IOSH) is preferred. 4 - 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as a Safety Officer or in a similar role. Strong knowledge of Indian safety regulations, industrial health standards, and environmental laws. Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and accident investigations. Excellent communication and training skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels. Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
