Senior Agronomist

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Agronomist with a specialization in Plant Diseases to lead disease diagnostics, management strategies, and research programs. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge in plant pathology, integrated pest and disease management (IPDM), and sustainable crop protection. This role is pivotal in improving crop health and productivity through scientific innovation and field-based insights. Key Responsibilities: Identify, diagnose, and analyse plant diseases across various crops and growing conditions. Develop and implement integrated disease management strategies to minimize crop loss. Lead field trials focused on disease-resistant varieties, biological control agents, and fungicidal efficacy. Provide technical guidance to agronomy teams, farmers, and partner organizations on disease prevention and treatment. Monitor disease outbreaks and assess risk factors related to pathogens, weather, and soil conditions. Collaborate with research institutions and internal R&D teams to develop disease forecasting models and control protocols. Train field staff and clients on early disease detection and safe pesticide/fungicide usage. Stay updated on regulatory frameworks, emerging pathogens, and global disease trends in agriculture. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's or Master’s in Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Crop Protection, or a related field. Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in plant disease management or agricultural research. Strong expertise in plant pathology diagnostics, disease epidemiology, and sustainable control methods. Familiarity with crop-specific disease cycles and management practices. Experience leading field teams and managing disease surveillance programs. Proficient in lab and field-based disease analysis tools, GIS mapping, and data interpretation. Willingness to travel to agricultural sites and provide on-ground support. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of biocontrol agents and organic disease management practices. Experience with digital agriculture platforms for disease prediction. Publications or presentations in recognised plant pathology forums or journals.
