We are a growing team of 50+ people, working primarily remote, headquartered in Australia and consisting of teams working across APAC and Europe. About the role iion is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to play a critical role in building and maintaining the backbone of our global game advertising platform. Youll be instrumental in developing scalable and reliable backend applications, high-performing data reporting services, and robust data pipelines that handle millions of hits daily. As a key member of our engineering team, youll be responsible for ensuring the uptime and performance of our distributed web applications, contributing to a superior client experience. Role Responsibilities: Develop and maintain scalable and reliable backend applications and API services Build high-performing, scalable 1st and 3rd party data reporting services Build and monitor scalable data pipelines receiving millions of hits daily Build automated alert systems to maintain the uptime of multiple distributed web applications Write high-coverage automated test suites that involve unit and integration tests Write code that can handle 5X - 10X more scale than the requirement Identify code bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems Mentor fellow team members and actively participate in code reviews Provide top-notch customer support and build ad-hoc tech solutions Role Requirements: Minimum 4 yrs experience in a backend engineering role with relevant technologies Hands-on experience with developing scalable distributed systems Excellent working knowledge of PHP v6.0+ and its ecosystem Strong experience in building scalable backend applications with MySQL and MongoDB databases Hands-on experience with any async message broker (RabbitMQ/ IBM MQ/ Apache Kafka/ Google Cloud Pub/Sub/ Amazon MQ) Good experience with a server-side caching solution (Redis/ Memcached/ Hazelcast/ Apache Cassandra/ ElasticSearch) Working knowledge with any package manager (Pip/ Homebrew/ NPM/ Go Modules) Hands-on experience with any cloud platform and its services (AWS/ Azure/ GCP) Working knowledge of big-data pipelines using Hadoop/ Spark/ Kafka is a plus Hands-on experience with NodeJS and its ecosystem is a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with strong spelling and grammar Ambitious with strong values of collaboration, agility, and willingness to challenge the status quo
