PostgreSQL DB Administrator (6-8 Years) Job Description About the Role: As a PostgreSQL DB Administrator with 4-8 years of experience, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the performance, security, and availability of PostgreSQL database systems. You will work closely with development teams to ensure optimal database performance and support business needs. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems, including installation, configuration, and tuning. Perform routine database administration tasks, such as backups, restores, and user management. Should be able to develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect against data loss and ensure business continuity. Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks to optimize query execution. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, data corruption, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues and security vulnerabilities. Monitor and optimize database performance through tuning SQL queries, analyzing execution plans, and adjusting database configuration parameters. Experience implementing and managing high-availability technologies (replication, mirroring, failover clusters, etc.) Implement security measures to protect database data from unauthorized access. Stay up-to-date with the latest PostgreSQL features and best practices. Collaborate with development teams to ensure database compatibility and performance. Participate in database design and development activities. Required Skills and Experience: 6-8 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DB Administrator. Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, internals, and performance tuning techniques. Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL. Experience with database replication and high availability solutions. Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures. Experience with performance tuning tools and techniques. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and various Windows OS preferred Preferred Skills: Experience with cloud-based PostgreSQL deployments (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL). Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Experience with data warehousing and analytics tools. Certifications related to PostgreSQL or database administration.
