Facilities Engineers: Manage the hospital's physical infrastructure, including buildings, utilities, and environmental systems (HVAC, medical gas supply, electrical systems, etc.). Biomedical Engineers: Focus on medical equipment, ensuring its safe and proper operation through maintenance, calibration, and software updates. They also play a role in purchasing new equipment and training medical staff on its use. Clinical Engineers: Oversee the commissioning and maintenance of medical equipment, ensuring it's safe, calibrated, and functioning correctly to meet patient care needs. Hospital Engineers: This role is broader, encompassing various aspects of infrastructure and equipment management, including new technology implementation, sustainable practices, and adapting to evolving healthcare needs. Key areas where engineers contribute: Infrastructure Management: Ensuring the hospital's physical plant is safe, efficient, and sustainable. Medical Device Management: Maintaining, calibrating, and repairing medical equipment, as well as purchasing new equipment. Technology Implementation: Introducing and implementing new technologies to improve patient care and treatment. Safety and Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating safety risks associated with medical equipment and hospital facilities.
