Job Title : Senior Finance Officer Location : Kolkata Department : Accounts & Finance Reports To : CEO Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Officer to manage and oversee our financial operations in India and internationally. This role will be responsible for handling complex financial management tasks, including compliance with Indian tax regulations, managing financial reporting, and overseeing the financial activities of our international branch. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of GST, TDS, Income Tax regulations, and the ability to manage overseas direct investments and financial operations across borders. Key Responsibilities: Indian Financial Operations: Maintenance of books of accounts vis-a-vis companies Act, Income tax Act & GST laws & keep the accounts upto date on monthly basis and work with accounts team for the same GST Compliance : Oversee the preparation and filing of GST returns, ensuring compliance with GST regulations in India. Ensure the timely reconciliation of GST liabilities, credits, and payments and refunds. TDS & Income Tax : Manage TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) calculations, filings, and reconciliations in accordance with Indian tax laws. Ensure compliance with Income Tax laws, including corporate tax filings, advance tax payments, and tax audits. STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) : Ensure compliance with STPI regulations for tax exemptions and other benefits applicable to software and IT service providers. Internal Controls & Compliance : Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with all Indian financial regulations, accounting standards and tax laws. Prepare for and coordinate with auditors for regular audits and financial reporting. Overseas Financial Operations: Oversee UK Branch : Supervise the financial operations of the companys branch in the UK, ensuring adherence to local financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies. Regularly review and assess the branchs financial performance and make recommendations for improvements. Overseas Direct Investments (ODI) : Process overseas direct investments, ensuring compliance with FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) regulations in India. Coordinate with regulatory bodies to facilitate investment processes if required. International Tax Compliance : Manage cross-border taxation issues, including transfer pricing, withholding taxes, and other international tax matters. Work closely with tax advisors to minimize tax liabilities across jurisdictions. Financial Strategy & Reporting: Financial Planning & Analysis : Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities. Ensure timely and accurate financial statements for both Indian and international operations. Financial Analysis : Provide insightful financial analysis and reports to senior management to support strategic decision-making, focusing on optimizing operations, managing costs, and driving profitability. Cash Flow Management : Ensure the effective management of the company’s cash flows, both in India and internationally, by monitoring payments, receivables, and investments across different markets. System Implementation & Improvement : Drive the implementation and optimization of financial software and systems, ensuring efficient and accurate financial operations. Qualifications & Skills: Education : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CA, CMA, or MBA preferred). Experience : Minimum of 8 years of experience in a finance role, with significant exposure to Indian tax laws (GST, TDS, Income Tax), international finance, and multi-country operations. Experience in the software or IT services industry is highly desirable. At least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory position overseeing international branches. Skills : In-depth knowledge of Indian tax regulations (GST, Income Tax, TDS) Proficiency in handling STPI benefits, LUT , and FEMA regulations related to Overseas Direct Investment (ODI) . Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis. Familiarity with international accounting standards and practices, and the ability to manage financial operations across multiple countries. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Technical : Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally). Personal Attributes: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work. Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with international teams.
